New Delhi : President Guy Parmelin of the Swiss Confederation has arrived in New Delhi on a State Visit to India. President Parmelin was accorded a ceremonial Static Guard and warmly received by MoS Ajay Tamta at the airport.
India and Switzerland share a long-standing and close partnership, with diplomatic relations dating back to 1948, when the two countries signed the Treaty of Friendship. Over the decades, the relationship has expanded across trade and investment, science and technology, education, innovation and culture.
The India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which entered into force on 1 October 2025, has further strengthened the economic dimension of this partnership, creating new opportunities for trade, investment and business cooperation.
India and Switzerland also share strong cooperation in research, innovation and higher education, supported by long-standing scientific and technological partnerships and joint research programmes.
President Parmelin’s State Visit will provide an opportunity to further deepen this multifaceted partnership and strengthen cooperation between 🇮🇳 India and 🇨🇭 Switzerland across areas of mutual interest.
